Schedule: Monday - Saturday, 5 day work week with split days off (Sundays off) Start time between 2am- 4am

Primary Purpose: The Commercial Delivery Route Truck Driver delivers produce and other products to General Produce customers.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide extraordinary customer service by exceeding customer expectations in the following areas:

Checks, verifies, and quantifies product to customer invoice and delivers said merchandise accurately, safely and efficiently.
Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
Places stock and/or rotates stock per customer request.
Collects or picks up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
Completes credit/debit forms as necessary.

2. Record sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery record.

3. Listen and communicate with office to resolve service complaints.

4. Load and unload trucks

5. Clean inside of truck.

6. Perform routine maintenance on truck; i.e. adjusts mirrors, cleans windshields, changes bulbs

7. Perform routine walk-around safety inspection of vehicle.

8. Operate delivery trucks safely and conforms to DOT, CHP and CVC regulations, laws, codes and policies

9. May pick up produce at produce houses, packing sheds and warehouses for back haul to warehouse.

10. Report regularly to supervisor

Additional Functions:

Learn and utilize all office policies and procedures.
Comply with all safety and security regulations and procedures.
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Valid California Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsement.
Driving record must conform to company policy and show no DUIs.
Must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations related to operators.
Basic writing, reading and speaking English language skills.
Customer service skills.
Ability to read maps
Some basic technological proficiency required to operate cell phones.
Ability to perform the primary functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Licenses

Driver must maintain a valid CA commercial driver license with air brake endorsement. and DMV record must meet the company’s policy in order to perform driving duties.

Education and Experience:

High School graduate or equivalent and/or one year experience driving a commercial truck. General Produce prefers some experience working in the produce industry. Experience working in food distribution is also preferred.
